Deokgu Oncheon
덕구온천
A natural hot spring deep in the mountains of Uljin.
About this place
NotesDeep in Uljin, it's hard to reach, but worth the journey. Soaking quietly in an outdoor bath surrounded by nature. Don't expect fancy facilities — but if you want to feel the essence of a real hot spring, this is the place. The main oncheon hall is gender-separated. Its centerpiece is a hot bath fed with 42.4°C spring water used exactly as it comes up, neither heated nor cooled, alongside a bagaji bath where you ladle the gushing water over yourself. There's a cold plunge as well. Saunas — amethyst sauna, jade sauna and an amethyst gem heated bed — are installed on both the men's and women's sides. Spa World is the mixed-gender zone, so a swimsuit and swim cap are mandatory. A 42°C panoramic outdoor bath anchors it, joined by a lemon bath, a hinoki wood bath, an event bath with rotating additives, the Terra Aqua hydrotherapy area, the jet-stream Action Spa, and a kids pool with a slide. An outdoor sun deck, the Hwangok deck and an 800-capacity locker room round it out. The main hall costs 11,000 KRW for adults and 8,000 KRW for children; Spa World is 26,000 KRW weekdays, 32,000 KRW weekends, 38,000 KRW in peak season. Resort guests pay 6,500 KRW for the oncheon and get 40–50% off Spa World. Child rates cover ages 24 months to elementary school, and under 24 months is free with proof. The two zones close at different times: the main hall runs 06:00–22:00, while Spa World shuts at 19:00 on weekdays and 20:00 on weekends and holidays. Private spa rooms book in 2- or 3-hour blocks from 60,000 KRW (standard) and 96,000 KRW (premium), walk-in inquiry only, no advance reservations. Open year-round, with free parking for around 2,000 cars.
Practical notes
Swimwear and a swim cap are mandatory in Spa World. The private spa rooms cannot be booked ahead — ask at the desk on the day.
