Spa Lei
스파레이
Women-only spa in Gangnam with saltwater pool and infrared room.
About this place
NotesSpa Lei is a women-only spa in Gangnam, built in an Eastern European, Hungarian-influenced Art Nouveau style. It has an outdoor bath, a bulhanjeungmak and other well-appointed facilities, plus a terrace for a quiet cup of tea. The bathing floor includes a hot bath at 42°C, a cold bath at 17°C, an outdoor bath, a seawater bath of high-salinity water from Korea's west coast, a foot bath, an event bath and a half-body bath. The heat rooms are a bulhanjeungmak, a yellow clay room, a charcoal room, a salt room and an infrared room. A hanjeungmak is a traditional Korean high-heat sweating room; in the jjimjilbang (Korean sauna lounge) zone, guests change into the cotton uniform given at the counter. There are also seawater and freshwater pools, two massage rooms, a Dead Sea mud package using mud imported from Israel, a sleeping area, a DVD room and an internet café. Admission is ₩22,000 for twelve hours, a book of ten coupons is ₩190,000, and the spa is open 24 hours, year-round. Parking is ₩3,000 for the first six hours and ₩2,000 per hour after, and valet is free. Guests tend to name the hanjeungmak, the food and the enzyme bath as the heart of the place; the terrace and pumpkin sikhye come up often too. The standard dry and wet saunas are described as more ordinary by comparison. Odor complaints from before the renovation are reported to have improved since.
Practical notes
Odor issues improved after renovation. There is an outdoor terrace rest area. Try the pumpkin sikhye (sweet rice drink). Facilities include a traditional kiln sauna, food service, and an enzyme bath alongside the standard dry and steam saunas.
