Sungjiyeon Sauna

Sungjiyeon Sauna is a men-only sauna tucked underground along Teheran-ro. The hot bath sits at 39-40°C, the gold bath at 43°C, and the cold bath at 17°C. Even people who are picky about water quality give this one a pass mark. The usual routine is a meal, a massage, then a nap in the sleeping room. The interior is not exactly polished, but the retro feel is oddly comfortable. If you are hunting for a sauna near Seolleung Station after work, this is the one that turns up. There are two sauna rooms, a dry one where you sweat in hot dry air and a wet one filled with steam, and visitors tend to say both are pleasantly scented. You can watch TV from the hot bath, and the rest area has sun beds. Amenities are broadly covered, including towels, shampoo, body wash, slippers, hair dryers and lockers. Worth knowing: the cold bath is on the shallow side. The address is 313 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, near Seolleung Station, and it runs 24 hours a day year-round. Entry is free in the early morning on weekdays, ₩3,000 during the day, and ₩7,000 at night and on weekends, with both cash and cards accepted. Parking is free. Because it runs around the clock, a late-night or early-morning visit works just as well. Women cannot use the facility.
