Uiryeong Bulgama Jushim Sauna
우이령불가마주쉼사우나
Traditional fire kiln sauna near Bukhansan Uiryeong trail.
About this place
NotesUiryeong Bulgama Jushim Sauna is a bulgama (traditional fire kiln) jjimjilbang (Korean sauna lounge) in Ui-dong, set in the hills near the Bukhansan Uiryeong trail. It pairs a bathhouse floor with a jjimjilbang zone, and it is a place to unwind surrounded by nature. Guests first wash and soak in the gender-separated bath area, then change into the cotton jjimjilbang uniform to use the shared heated rooms. Here the bath floor has a warm bath at 39°C, an event bath at 41°C and a hot bath at 42°C, with a dry sauna listed at around 87°C and a steam sauna at around 67°C. The cold bath sits at about 11°C, cold enough that regular visitors bring it up often; alternating between hot water and cold, a common habit in Korean bathhouses, is something you can try at your own pace. The jjimjilbang zone has a salt room and a hanjeungmak, a traditional Korean high-heat sweating room. Admission is ₩15,000 and the venue runs 24 hours, year-round, though overnight stays are not offered. Parking is available. The detail visitors mention most is the outdoor cooling area, where chairs let you cool off in mountain air between rounds. Note that there is no separate indoor cool-down space, and the hair dryers take coins. Weekend evenings get busy, so a weekday visit tends to be calmer.
Practical notes
A relatively new facility at the foot of Bukhansan. Has dry (~87°C) and steam (~67°C) saunas plus warm/hot/cold/event baths; the cold plunge is very cold at ~11°C. Crowded on weekend evenings, so weekdays are best. Lovely during cherry-blossom season.
