Wolmun Oncheon

Opened in 2000. pH 9.2 alkaline sodium bicarbonate spring from 700m depth. Features charcoal kiln, herb mist sauna, and year-round outdoor bath. The site is in Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong. Five tubs: the oncheon (hot spring) bath itself, a hot bath (yeoltang), a cold plunge, an event bath and a waterfall bath. The venue's own material describes the spring water as smoother than a milk bath. Two saunas — charcoal, which is dry, and herbal mist, which is steam. Heat up in the charcoal room, cut it in the plunge, then take the shoulders under the waterfall bath: that is how the loop falls into place. The outdoor bath stays open through all four seasons, so you can shed the heat outside in winter too. Adults 11,000 KRW. Children aged 24 months to pre-school 9,000 KRW, seniors 65 and over 10,000 KRW, groups of 20 or more 10,000 KRW. Get in before 09:00 on a weekday and the early-bird rate is 9,000 KRW. Doors open at 06:00. Parking is free, and cash, cards and the Munhwa Nuri card all work. It sits 900m from Baran IC on the Seohaean Expressway, so driving is the realistic way in. No Wi-Fi.
