Yulam Oncheon
율암온천
Hwaseong's first licensed hot spring. Outdoor bath and charcoal kiln.
About this place
NotesHwaseong's first licensed oncheon (hot spring), sourced from 700m underground. Alkaline water. Outdoor bath, charcoal kilns, foot bath, and an on-site restaurant. Known for silky water quality, though some note the water upkeep leaves something to be desired. Sweating here happens in bulgama (charcoal kilns) rather than a sauna. Three of them, graded high, medium, and low, so you pick the one that matches your tolerance. Outdoors, the hot spring bath and a wood vinegar bath sit side by side. The outdoor bath is large and roomy, and indoors there is a foot bath. Pricing splits two ways. Bathing only is 11,000 KRW for adults (elementary school age and up) and 8,000 KRW for children (age 2 through kindergarten). Add the charcoal kilns and it becomes 16,000 KRW and 11,000 KRW. Seniors 10,000 KRW, early bird 8,000 KRW. Cash, credit card, and the Munhwa Nuri card all work. Open until 21:00, year-round. 434-14 Oncheon-ro, Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do; from the Baran IC turn left and go 1.4km toward the underpass. Parking yes, Wi-Fi no. Weekends draw a crowd, and the complaints about water upkeep are weekend complaints. For a slower soak, go on a weekday or in the early bird slot. There is a restaurant on site, so a meal does not mean leaving.
Practical notes
1.4km from Balan IC. Natural spring water from 700m underground. Bath ₩11,000 / bath + charcoal kiln ₩16,000; early-bird ₩8,000. Extremely crowded on weekends (the parking tower is nearly full by 6:20am on Sundays). For comfortable charcoal kiln use, visit on weekday mornings or afternoons; on weekends the kilns may close early or have long waits. Go in the morning for cleaner water. Many reviews mention silky-smooth skin after bathing. Parking available.
