Gangbyeon Spa Land
강변스파랜드
3000-pyeong mega jjimjilbang with 1200m-depth germanium sulfur mineral water and extreme cold plunge.
About this place
NotesGangbyeon Spa Land occupies basement levels one and two at 45 Guui Gangbyeon-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, spanning roughly 3,000 pyeong. The water is germanium carbonated sulfur mineral water drawn from 1,200m underground, and the fire hanjeungmak (traditional Korean kiln room) is fuelled with pine logs. It is open 24 hours, year-round. Gangbyeon Station Exit 4 is 404m away, and the large underground garage gives six hours of free daytime parking. Admission runs from 13,000 KRW to 17,000 KRW. Sauna use beyond six hours adds 1,000 KRW per hour, and jjimjilbang (Korean sauna lounge) stays are capped at 15 hours. Cash, credit cards and mobile payment are accepted, and reservations and group bookings are possible. The signature feature is the ice plunge listed at 5C. It is off-limits to elderly visitors and anyone with a heart condition, so only healthy adults should enter. Beyond the fire hanjeungmak there is a charcoal room, a salt room and an igloo experience room, plus a kids' area and Wi-Fi. The men's and women's floors are run at different water temperatures, and the water is changed around 8pm. The venue was once known for an extremely cold plunge, but as of summer 2026 guests report the cold pool feeling closer to 23C, which is worth noting if a truly cold plunge is the goal.
Practical notes
Men's and women's bath temperatures differ. It was once famous for an ice-cold plunge pool, but visitor reports from summer 2026 say the cold bath now runs lukewarm (around 23°C) — keep that in mind if a truly cold plunge is your goal. Water is changed around 8pm.
