Prima Spa Cheongdam

A premium spa brand newly launched by Hotel Prima in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam. Spread over 900 pyeong (a Korean unit of about 3.3 square meters), it is promoted as the largest spa in Gangnam and gathers a mugwort bath, dry sauna and more into one urban retreat. The men's section runs 24 hours; hours for the women's section are announced separately, so it is worth checking before you go. The bathing area is built around three tubs: a mugwort bath, a warm bath and a cold bath. A mugwort bath, or ssuktang, is a long-standing fixture of Korean bathhouses, filled with water steeped in mugwort. On the women's side the mugwort bath is listed at about 43°C, the warm bath at 41°C and the cold bath at 17 to 19°C, with sun loungers alongside. There are two sauna rooms, dry and wet, and the venue is also known for an outdoor bath. A television is mounted above the warm bath. Admission is ₩28,000 during the day and ₩35,000 at night, or ₩41,000 for bathing plus the fitness center. There is no time limit on your stay, and for regulars a ten-ticket book works out cheaper. Towels, lockers, shampoo, body wash and hair dryers are provided, and valet and public parking are available. Children are not admitted. The central location means it gets busy and rates sit high, though many report the women's section is quiet between 21:00 and 22:00 on weekdays.
