Seongsu-tang
성수탕
Est. 1966, Seoul Future Heritage. Clean and cozy neighborhood bathhouse.
About this place
NotesSeongsu-tang is the neighborhood bathhouse people think of first when they want a soak in Seongsu-dong. Loved by locals for generations, it is consistently praised for being clean and well kept. The bathhouse opened in the 1960s and carries a Seoul Future Heritage designation. It is compact rather than sprawling, with a straightforward pairing of a warm bath and a cold bath, and it offers seshin (Korean full-body scrub) from a scrub master with more than thirty years of experience. Seshin is a bathhouse service in which you soak until the skin softens, after which the attendant works over the body with a coarse mitt to lift away dead skin. For visitors meeting Korean bathhouse culture for the first time, it is often the thing they come to try. Towels, lockers, slippers and hair dryers are on hand, and children are allowed in. Admission is ₩9,000 and payment is cash only, so bring notes rather than a card. A ten-visit pass costs ₩65,000, which brings the per-visit cost down for anyone who comes regularly. Listed hours are 06:00 to 22:00, closed every Wednesday. Hours can change, so it is worth checking the shop's account before making the trip. Seongsu Station is close by, so a soak here slots easily into a day spent walking around Seongdong-gu.
