Seoul Head Spa, Booked in Japanese — Nine Scalp Specialists Compared by Price, Japanese Support and How to Book (Fall 2026)
Search "Seoul head spa in Japanese" and you get lists of ten hair salons. This page takes nine scalp specialists and sorts them by whether you can book in Japanese and where: prepaid in Japanese on Klook, KKday, VELTRA or Rakuten; Japanese menus with Instagram DM; or translation-app territory. Prices, long-hair surcharges and the arrive-10-minutes-early rule included.
Short answer — two places work end to end in Japanese, three with a Japanese menu, the rest need a translation app
For head spas in Seoul, where you book matters more than whether staff speak Japanese. A salon can have Japanese-speaking staff and still be unreachable if its only booking channel is Naver, which rejects foreign phone numbers. So this page sorts nine places by booking route.
① Prepaid in Japanese — Mr. Park Head Spa in Myeongdong (Japanese-language listings on Klook, KKday and Rakuten Travel) and THE SEOL:HA in Hongdae (Japanese listing on VELTRA). Pay from Japan, show the voucher, no talking needed.
② Japanese menu plus Instagram DM — TBC Myeongdong (Japanese-speaking staff), Tanpopo Hair Hongdae (Japanese-style head spa), Slow Head Spa Yeonnam (foreign-language service up front, but on temporary closure since August 2026, so check its Instagram). A DM in Japanese gets through, though replies may come in English or machine translation.
③ Translation app plus Instagram DM or Naver — Ciel de Scalp Hongdae, Mosante Hapjeong, Yumea Jamsil. Cheaper and more precise on scalp diagnosis, but bring your booking message ready in Korean or English.
④ Busan — Sisun Head Spa in Seomyeon, verified directly by LUWEI with the venue; WhatsApp is the smoothest channel for foreign guests.
Expect 60,000-160,000 won for a 60-minute course including a scalp scan. Hair below the shoulders usually adds 10,000-20,000 won, and some places require you to arrive 10 minutes early.
How a Korean head spa differs from a Japanese one — scalp scan, scaling, ampoule, and salon-type versus scalp-specialist
In Japan, "head spa" usually means a 20-30 minute relaxation add-on at a hair salon, or a dry head spa. Seoul head spas run differently: a scalp camera check first (often free), then a scaling step that dissolves scalp buildup, massage, shampoo, a scalp ampoule and a finish, taking 60-90 minutes in total. Prices are higher than in Japan, and the after-feeling of a "lighter" scalp is stronger.
There are two families. Salon-type: head spa menus at large chains such as Leekaja, Juno and Park Jun. Some branches have Japanese-speaking staff and it pairs well with a cut or perm, but the head spa is one item on a long menu. Scalp-specialist: places like the nine here that do scalp only, with private rooms, diagnostic scans and courses for hair loss, seborrhea or dandruff, plus cypress, sleep or aroma courses if relaxation is the goal.
The "top 10" articles that rank in Japanese search are mostly salon-type. This page covers scalp specialists only. If you are not planning a haircut and want scalp care and relaxation, this is the right list.
Myeongdong — Mr. Park Head Spa (prepaid in Japanese) and TBC (Japanese-speaking, 60,000 won)
Mr. Park Head Spa Myeongdong — two minutes from Myeongdong Station. One-to-one private room, from scalp exfoliation to a nourishing ampoule, 80,000-120,000 won, plus 10,000 won for hair below the shoulders. Mon-Sat 10:00-21:00 (last booking 19:30), closed Sundays. Featured on Japanese TV, so many Japanese guests; Klook, KKday and Rakuten Travel carry "Japanese OK" listings, so you can pay from Japan. The rules are strict: arrive 10 minutes before your slot or the booking auto-cancels, and reservations are mandatory, so walk-ins are unlikely.
TBC Total Beauty Care Myeongdong — floors 3-4 at Myeongdong 4-gil 21. Head spa 50 minutes 60,000 won (scalp scaling, mist, shampoo and treatment, scalp ampoule, finish), plus 10,000-20,000 won for long hair. 10:00-22:00, open every day. Japanese-speaking staff, basic English and Chinese too. It also does facials, waxing and body massage, so it suits "an hour in the middle of Myeongdong shopping" more than a quiet scalp-only visit. Book by Instagram DM (@tbc_beauty_official).
The real difference is how you book: Mr. Park if you want to prepay in Japanese, TBC if late hours and half the price matter more.
Hongdae, Hapjeong, Yeonnam — THE SEOL:HA (VELTRA), Tanpopo (Japanese-style), Ciel and Mosante (scalp specialists), Slow (check closure)
THE SEOL:HA Private Scrub & Spa — 10 minutes from Hongdae Station Exit 1, a three-storey hanok-concept building. Booking in practice — Klook and VELTRA flow, an Instagram DM template, the 10-minute rule, long hair and pregnancy
① Prepaid in Japanese (Mr. Park, THE SEOL:HA) — pick date and time on Klook, KKday, Rakuten Travel or VELTRA, pay, and a voucher arrives. Show it on your phone on the day. Cancellation terms vary by site, usually free until two or three days before. Popular slots (weekend afternoons) fill one to two weeks out.
② Instagram DM (TBC, Tanpopo, Ciel, Mosante, Yumea) — tap "Message" on the venue's profile. One line is enough: "Hello, I'd like to book a head spa on Sept 20 around 2 pm, 1 person, long hair. Do you have availability?" Replies usually come the same or next day. No Korean phone number needed; if a deposit is required they send a card link or account. Naver booking often fails verification with foreign numbers, so DM is the reliable route.
③ Arrival — some places (Mr. Park) require you 10 minutes early and auto-cancel if you are late. You do not need to wash your hair first. Scaling is followed by a shampoo, so you leave with your hair done; allow 10-15 extra minutes for drying and styling.
④ Long hair, pregnancy, scalp trouble — below-shoulder hair usually adds 10,000-20,000 won. If pregnant, choose a place with a dedicated course: Mosante Mommy Care (110,000 won) or Sisun prenatal relaxing (77,000 won). For seborrhea, psoriasis or hair loss, Ciel, Yumea and Sisun have diagnostic scans and problem-specific courses; for pure relaxation, Tanpopo or Mosante's cypress course fits.
⑤ Prices and hours are public information as of September 2026; only Sisun has been confirmed with the venue. Double-check the others when you book.
