Late-Night Jjimjilbang Near Myeongdong — There Is Almost None Inside Myeongdong, Here Is Where to Go After Midnight (Fall 2026)
The honest answer to "24-hour jjimjilbang in Myeongdong": there is practically none inside Myeongdong. The real answer is SPAREX at Dongdaemun, two subway stops away. Dragon Hill and Siloam, still all over old blogs, have closed. Late-night routes from the airport, night rates, luggage, passport, sleeping rooms, and the usual worries for solo women.
Short answer — there is almost no 24-hour jjimjilbang inside Myeongdong. Go two stops to Dongdaemun
"24-hour jjimjilbang in Myeongdong" is a very common search in Japanese, but honestly: there is practically no all-night jjimjilbang inside Myeongdong. What Myeongdong has are daytime, reservation-based scrub rooms, head spas and aesthetic salons, and most of them close by 23:00 or midnight.
If you want a jjimjilbang late at night near Myeongdong, the answer is one place: SPAREX Goodmorning City, two stops from Myeongdong Station on Line 4, right outside Exit 13 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station. Open 24 hours, night entry 16,000 won including the uniform, and it sits under a Dongdaemun shopping mall, so the area stays lit even at 3 a.m.
One warning: Dragon Hill Spa (Yongsan) and Siloam Sauna (Seoul Station) still appear on the first page of results as the top picks near Myeongdong. Both have closed.
Three places you can reach from Myeongdong after midnight — price, route, feel
① SPAREX Goodmorning City (Dongdaemun DDP) — two stops from Myeongdong on Line 4 (about 5 min). Exit 13 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, Gate 1 of Goodmorning City, elevator to B3. Day 14,000 / night 16,000 won including the uniform. The most tourist-friendly of the three, used to late arrivals. Luggage storage 20,000 won lets you leave a suitcase, go out and come back. About 10 minutes by taxi from Myeongdong.
② SPAREX Dongmyo — 13th floor near Dongmyo Station (Lines 1 and 6). Same prices (14,000 / 16,000). Known among Japanese travellers as the jjimjilbang you go to straight from a late Incheon arrival — there are several overnight reviews. Know before you go: wheeled suitcases are not allowed in the changing room (storage 20,000 won), you need a physical ID (passport) to stay overnight, and hair dryers are metered.
③ Gukilgwan Jjimjilbang (Jongno 3-ga) — 153 m from Exit 15 of Jongno 3-ga Station. Day 12,000 / night 14,000 won, uniform 1,000 won extra. More local and cheaper than the two above. 10 minutes by taxi from Myeongdong, or Line 3 from Chungmuro.
All three are open 24 hours, year-round. Baths are separated by gender; the sauna floor and sleeping rooms are mixed, in uniform.
Late arrival routes — if you land at Incheon around 23:00
AREX regular trains leave Terminal 2 until 23:40; the express until 22:40 (T2) / 22:48 (T1). If immigration is quick, the regular train gets you to Seoul Station in about 66 minutes, then a 15-minute taxi to Dongdaemun.
Miss the last train and it is the night bus. N6002 runs toward Seoul Station between 22:20 and 04:00 at 30-150 minute intervals (T1: stop 6A on the 1st floor; T2: transport center on B1). Gaps are long, so check the timetable before you land. Fares are around 17,000-18,000 won depending on the route.
A taxi to central Seoul is 48,000-70,000 won, plus a 20% surcharge between midnight and 04:00. For two or more people it is the easiest option: 60-70 minutes to SPAREX Dongdaemun.
Going the other way, if you have an early flight, the 6015 airport bus leaves the Myeongdong area at 04:20. Sleeping in a jjimjilbang until 4 a.m. and heading straight to the airport is a plan that actually works.
Inside — from the counter to falling asleep
Entry: pay at the counter and you get a key bracelet, uniform and towels. Night rates usually apply to entries between 20:00 and 05:00; for an overnight stay you may be asked for your passport.
Shoes, then locker: shoes go in the shoe locker at the entrance, clothes and bag in the locker with the same number. A suitcase will not fit — leave it at the counter (20,000 won).
Bath: the gender-separated bath is beyond the changing room. Many places do not provide shampoo or body wash, so bring travel bottles or buy them at the kiosk. A bathhouse-style body scrub here is 20,000-35,000 won.
Sauna floor: change into the uniform and go up to the mixed floor — rooms at different temperatures, a restaurant, a kiosk, a TV lounge and sleeping rooms. Try the sikhye (rice drink) and roasted eggs once.
Sleep: sleeping rooms are mats on the floor; brightness and snoring depend on where you lie. An eye mask, earplugs and a power bank make the night far easier. Power outlets are rare.
Solo women — the usual worries: safety, the night crowd, tattoos, tipping
Is it safe: baths are fully separated by gender, and everyone on the shared floor wears the uniform. Staff are on duty 24 hours and there is CCTV. Japanese overnight reviews agree it is "quiet, everyone minds their own business". Women-only sleeping rooms exist at some venues and not others — ask at the counter.
The night crowd: office workers who missed the last train, travellers with early flights, Dongdaemun market traders. If someone is drunk, staff deal with it.
Tattoos: as public baths, large visible tattoos may be refused. Small ones are usually fine; cover with a waterproof patch if worried.
Periods: many women skip the bath and use only the sauna floor and sleeping room. Entry is the same price.
Tipping: none. Korea has no tipping culture.
If you want women-only: not near Myeongdong, but Seoul has women-only 24-hour jjimjilbang. Sparay near Sinsa Station in Gangnam (22,000 won) and Chinjeongsup fire sauna near Sogang Univ. Station (night 12,000-15,000 won). Both are open all night.
If you are staying in Myeongdong — you can still bathe inside Myeongdong until about 23:00
If the goal is "a bath and a reset at night" rather than "sleeping in a jjimjilbang", Myeongdong itself has options — just until around 23:00, not 24 hours.
ONA Myeongdong — Myeongdong 4-gil, 09:00-23:55. Women-only private rooms, body scrub from 99,000 won. Reservation (Naver, LINE, Instagram DM).
HERA Spa & Esthetic Myeongdong — 2nd floor of Sejong Hotel, 09:30-23:00. Body care from 99,000 won for 60 min, women-only, reservation first.
Both work well after shops close at 22:00, but past midnight the only real option is SPAREX at Dongdaemun. If your hotel is in Myeongdong, split the plan: private rooms in Myeongdong by day and evening, the Dongdaemun jjimjilbang on the night you arrive late.
