About this place

Notes

Opened in 1615, Tsurunoyu is the oldest of 7 ryokan in Nyuto Onsenkyo. The thatched-roof Honjin building, a registered Cultural Property since 2010, once housed guards of the Akita feudal lord. The snow-covered mixed rotenburo is a widely photographed winter onsen scene.

Practical notes

The pass covers the seven member inns: Tsurunoyu, Myonoyu, Kaniba, Ogama, Magoroku, Kuroyu and Kyukamura. The Yumeguri-cho pass is sold only to guests staying at one of the seven, purchased at each front desk, cash only. It includes unlimited rides on the Yumeguri-go shuttle bus. Day visitors cannot buy it, so check each inn's individual day-bathing fee instead.
