Practical notes
Ishidan no Yu (¥800) lets you try the famous golden water (Kogane no Yu). Best after strolling the 365 stone steps. Ishidan no Yu closed 2nd/4th Tuesdays. The iron-rich golden water stains towels brown — beware. Mizusawa udon is one of Japan's three great udon. Ikaho Ropeway up Mt. Haruna for views.
