Eight distinct hot spring districts called "Beppu Hatto": downtown Beppu, sulfur-rich Myoban, steam-vent Kannawa, seaside sand-bath Kamegawa — each with unique character. The Jigoku Meguri (Hell Tour) covers 7 hells in 2.5-4 hours. Sea-blue Umi Jigoku and blood-red Chi-no-Ike are among them. 4 hells are designated National Scenic Sites.
