About this place

Notes

A secluded mountain onsen village of about 30 ryokan at 700m elevation near Mt. Aso, Kumamoto. The "whole town is one ryokan" concept. Stone paths, lanterns, river sounds, no neon — the essence of rustic Japanese onsen culture.

Practical notes

Check the live "Bathing Status" page on the official site. Buy Nyuto Tegata at the tourist info (Kaze no Ya) or participating ryokan. The 3rd sticker can be exchanged for snacks/souvenirs.
